NFIRS 5 Alive makes it easy to share Presentations.

Since NFIRS 5 Alive stores presentations as a single paragraph of encrypted text it's possible to send a Presentation as a paragraph of text in an email. Those receiving the email simply copy the text into their clipboard and selection the option to "Create Graphs from Clipboard Text".

Sending Numbered Graphs to the Share Folder

If you've created a collection of interesting graphs or numeric charts you can export them by assigning a 4-digit ID number.  Simply highlight the graphs you wish to export.  Select "Send Numbered Graph Text to Share Folder".  Follow the instructions on the screen.

Once properly sent into the Share folder, any NFIRS 5 Alive user on your network can then access and import your "package of Presentations" by typing-in the 4-digit ID in the proper import area. Remember, all NFIRS 5 Alive users must be using the same "Shares" local feed path.

Sending Graphs as a Graph Text Document

Finally, you have the ability to "Send Graphs into a Graph Text Document". This procedure creates a text document that holds the highlighted Presentations you've selected. The text document may then be sent to other NFIRS 5 Alive users to import your selected presentations.

Three other exporting options involve the creation of HTML web pages from Presentations and sending Presentations to a shared folder on your LAN (Local Area Network).  Each of these options requires you to set a path to the folders involved.

Go back to the Operations Window and press the Preferences button again. This time press the "Local Paths" tab.  Here's how it looks at the bottom of the page.

The "Intranet" Local Feed is the path to the folder somewhere out on your network.  This is the location where you store web pages that display fire stats in HTML format for fire personnel with access to your Local Area Network. This feature is best for "internal" data distribution. Simply set the path to the folder and have your personnel point their web browser to the "Index.htm" document inside the folder to view statistics. If the page is set as a "favorite" the user can easily return to it for updates.

The "Web Pages" Local Feed is the path to the folder where you wish to store web pages you've created in NFIRS 5 Alive.  Generally, this folder should be accessible to the folder that supports your fire department's external web site.

The "Shares" folder supports the direct exporting and importing of Presentations between NFIRS 5 Alive users within the fire department. Set the path to a folder that can be accessed by all other NFIRS 5 Alive users using the same folder path.

Intranet and Web Page Exports

Both the Intranet and Web Page exports create HTML web pages designed for viewing with a regular browser.  See the "Making Intranet Presentations" and "Creating Internet Web Pages" for more information.
