The GIS Analyzer analyzes Incident, Apparatus and Risks records by geographic location. Geocoded addresses are then organized into geographic files called "KML" (Keyhole Markup Language) files. KML files may then be viewed over the Internet using Google Earth. Google Earth is a geographical browser. It is a product of Google, Inc.
After selecting records in Incidents, Apparatus or Risks press the "Report" icon to enter the Report area. In the upper right click on the "GIS Analyzer" button.
You may now select from two GIS options.
The first option analyzes a virtually unlimited number of records by assigning each record to a geographic "node". Statistics are then assembled for each node and allowing the processed data from each node to be displayed on a map using KML data files. Geographic nodes are called "Dynamically Defined Districts" or simply D3 districts.
The second option is to create a location for each record in selection. Locations can be identified by an icon that marks the location with a symbol. This option is limited to about 2,000 records since there is a limited to the number of icons that may be easily seen on a map. A second option is to create a line from the originating station to the location of the incident for each incident in selection. Since lines are more easily seen this option allows for about 10,000 records to be displayed on a map. |
