Compacting can greatly enhance the speed of the database. Compacting the records and indexes is as easy as pressing the "Compact records and indexes" button. Simply follow the instructions on the screen.
In general you should consider compacting the data file every 6-months or so.
The structure file may also be compacted in the same way. Remember each time you compact you are essentially creating a backup of the data. You may never need to Backup and Restore the database if you simply use the compacting feature regularly.
Index Files
Two files are used to index structure and data file access.
If you quit the application and delete the "N5AliveV12.4DIndy" file the structure index will automatically rebuild when you start the database. Similarly, if you quit the application and delete the "N5AliveV12.4DIndx" data file index it will automatically be rebuilt the next time you start the application.
